About

Hi.  My name is Carol.  I’m a stay-at-home mom to four kids and have always loved nature and photography.  Now that my kids are growing up (they never asked me if it was OK!), I have a lot more time to explore some hobbies.  My recent passion is birds–and my recent photographs definitely reflect that!

I am certainly not an expert birder.  One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was to help me learn more about the subjects of the photos I take.  I welcome any discussion, and if I incorrectly identify a bird, please let me know.  It will help me to learn!

Hi Carol, Your nephew Alex pointed me to your site, and I must say that I am really impressed with your images! I am a fellow Canon shooter, and just recently got into the hobby of birding. (About 3 weeks now, and I’ve captured images of 27 species) I am blown away with what you are able to accomplish with your T1i, and I am dying to know what kind of lens you’re using. I want to guess that it’s the Canon 100-400? About 6 months ago I purchased the 70-200 f/2.8 is ii, and it is truly spectacular, albeit limited in range for birding. I am considering the purchase of a teleconverter in order to get some more reach out of it for my new-found hobby.
    Keep up the amazing work!

  5. Welcome Kevin! So glad Alex pointed you towards the blog–I love that nephew of mine! Yes, I do shoot with the 100-400. It took me a year to decide on a lens, and I had seriously considered the one you have. That is a great lens and I would love it for my portrait photography. I don’t know much about teleconverters, but I know that when I was considering a 300 zoom lens, adding a teleconverter would make the auto focus not work–that’s something to look into if you’d like to add it to your 70-200. Do you have a flickr page? I’d love to see some of your work. You can also visit me on flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/54403780@N05/. Thanks for stopping by!
